Metal Riding Arenas Built For Serious Equestrians

Clear-span covered arenas with proper footing, ventilation, and lighting — engineered for the Southwest climate.

Overview

Ride Year-Round. In Any Weather.

A covered riding arena is one of the best investments an equestrian property owner can make. It protects your horses and riders from the Southwest's extreme heat, dust storms, and occasional rain — and lets you train and compete on your schedule, not the weather's.

Full Metal Buildings designs and supplies clear-span metal riding arenas engineered specifically for equestrian use. We size the structure around standard arena dimensions, design for proper ventilation to manage dust and heat, and engineer the roof framing for arena lighting loads.

From a 60×120 private training arena to a 100×200 competition facility with spectator seating, we deliver permit-ready packages with stamped engineering and certified erectors throughout Nevada, Arizona, Utah, California, and New Mexico.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the standard size for a riding arena?

A standard dressage arena is 20×60 meters (66×197 ft). For Western disciplines, a common training arena is 100×200 ft. Roping arenas typically run 150×300 ft. We can build to any dimension your discipline requires.

How do you handle dust in a covered metal arena?

Proper ventilation is the key. We design ridge vent and continuous sidewall vent systems that create airflow to carry dust out of the riding area. Many clients also add a water system for footing management — we rough in the plumbing.

Can I add stalls to my riding arena?

Yes. We regularly design combination arena and barn buildings with stall rows along one or both sides of the arena. This is a very efficient use of the structure and keeps horses close to the riding surface.

Do covered arenas require a building permit?

In most jurisdictions, yes — especially for structures over 200 sq ft. We provide stamped engineering drawings that satisfy building department requirements in Nevada, Arizona, Utah, California, and New Mexico.
